I gave out my first Street Swag this last week to a bloke who has been coming to The Dining Room for a couple of weeks now. He never carries anything besides a large bag and shuffles in his slippers as he walks.
He was very thankful and told me that he had heard of them from other guys he knows. I gave it to him after chatting with him and finding out he has given up on the system, the welfare providers and that he feels safer on the streets.
His name is Bernie — please keep in your prayers, especially during these cold nights.
