There is a new campaign being run by many of the major agencies that deal with homelessness, and in particular, the private rooming houses that folk are often forced to use when the alternative is the street after failing to get emergency accommodation. Call this a Home? Campaign for Safe Rooming Houses in Victoria, the campaign has a web site that both organisations as well as individuals can join to voice their support.
Call This A Home? is a coalition of peak bodies, organisations and individuals committed to safe rooming houses in Victoria. We work with rooming house residents to advocate for the reforms they need to live to a basic standard of decency.
We believe every Australian has a fundamental right to safe, secure and affordable housing.
Every day we are receiving more and more expressions of support from diverse individuals and organisations. Click Take Action and add your voice to the call for reform.
I urge you to go check it out and sign the petition or, if you represent an organisation sign them up to support the campaign. If you’re a Facebook user — join the campaign here.
You can download a Rooming House fact sheet from here and the campaign’s 5 Point Plan here.

Count me in. We all deserve equal rights, that include the right to a safe, secure and affordable housing. I hope that the aborigines will also know of this info. for they now have an ally in their fundamental right which they are being denied of.
Are they planning to build an establishments to help homeless people especially the elderly
