I recently had the pleasure of emailing one of the pastors from Waterfront Community Church, the church from my previous post. David Herrick took the time to answer some of the questions that I know a few of us have had, including myself, about how they are giving back 100% of Donations to Struggling Families.
Here’s what David had to say,
Hey Neal,
Good to hear from you. Thanks so much for taking the time to write to us. To answer your question real simply, there are 3 ways we’re able to do what we do. First, we keep our operating costs very, very, low squeezing every penny and stretching every dollar. Second, all of our staff raise their own support. And the last piece is that we have a core team of 7 or 8 families within our church who tithe directly and privately to our operating expenses (like rent, communion supplies, etc.) so that all of the money we collect on Sunday mornings during our offering can be directed toward identified community needs.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.
David C Herrick
I think that is fantastic! Does anyone know of any other congregations, Australia or otherwise that do similar? What do you think about David’s explanation?
