I am going to seek ACA (Australian Counsellors Association) membership/ accreditation. This is one of two professional organisations that I could join (although PACFA requires many more hours of Counselling and Supervision).
I did the course last year with the intention of not really persuing Counselling but the Welfare Work. But ironically, I have found that I enjoyed and felt “in the groove” for the counselling. To that end it is also a skill and service that I can offer the community — especially in times such as this when we face disasters such as the bush fires.
Sending the form off today or tomorrow — and after querying ICCS about the course and accrediation, there should be no problems in registering. I need to find a supervisor and add a reference but that should not be a problem. Would appreciate your prayers as I feel that this is something that gives credability to those who need it for the Community Development work I have been doing.
